About Pacific Beach

Pacific Beach is one of the more popular sandy destinations in San Diego, California. Also known as PB, this community is attractive to students of several nearby colleges.

Pacific Beach offers a variety of real estate and covers three miles along the ocean from Mission Beach to La Jolla. It is ten miles from San Diego’s downtown district and is bordered by Mission Beach, Mission Bay, La Jolla, the ocean, and Interstate 5. You will find a lot of surfers and college students here enjoying the night scene with restaurants, bars, and shops.

Public schooling is also provided by the San Diego Unified School District which is the second largest in the state. Students attend facilities like Mission Bay High School as well as highly ranked Pacific Beach Elementary and Pacific Beach Middle School. There are hundreds of private institutions like the Calvary Christian Academy, Escondido Adventists Academy, the Montessori American School, and Halstrom Academy. Institutes of higher learning include the University of California, San Diego, San Diego State University, and Point Loma Nazarene University.

The Mission Bay Park is comprised of more than 4,000 acres and is the largest water park of its kind in the country. This is the home of the San Diego Sea World. There is also the neighborhood’s own Pacific Beach Recreation Center and Kate Sessions Park which features sports fields and playgrounds. The Mission Bay Golf Course is a public facility and offers an 18-hole course designed by Ted Robinson.

San Diego is California’s second largest city and the nation’s eighth. Its economy relies on tourism, manufacturing, international trade, and military defense related activities.
